Team & Group Coaching
Two ways to work together
I offer two forms of group-based coaching: Team Coaching for intact leadership or management teams, and Pod Coaching for small groups of leaders or professionals who want to work on shared challenges in a confidential learning environment.
Team Coaching
Leadership teams do not usually need more meetings. They need a better way to work through the issues that ordinary meetings avoid.
I work with leadership and management teams when alignment is missing, trust has been shaken, difficult conversations are being deferred, or capable individuals are not yet operating as a genuinely effective team. The visible issue may be communication, execution or decision-making. Underneath it, there are often unresolved questions about accountability, influence, working relationships and the quality of challenge within the team.
My role is to help the team surface the issues that are slowing it down, improve the quality of its conversations, and establish more effective ways of working together.
Typical situations where Team Coaching helps
Team Coaching can be particularly useful when:
- A newly formed or reorganised leadership team needs to establish trust and effective working norms.
- Team members avoid productive conflict or defer difficult decisions.
- Individual performance is strong, but collective performance is inconsistent.
- Cross-functional tensions are affecting execution.
- A team needs to rebuild confidence after a difficult period of change.
- A senior team wants to improve accountability and the quality of strategic dialogue.
Pod Coaching
Pod Coaching brings together a small group of five to nine participants to work on a defined leadership, management or professional-development theme. The group may be drawn from one organisation, a leadership-development cohort, or a group of professionals facing similar challenges.
The topic can be agreed in advance by the client or identified with the participants. A Pod may focus on one issue in a single session or work through a broader theme over a short series of meetings, typically three sessions.
I facilitate the process using real workplace situations brought by participants. Each session combines focused input, structured reflection, peer coaching and practical experimentation. Participants leave with actions to test in their day-to-day work and return with new observations about what happened.
The result is more than a training session. Over time, the Pod can become a trusted peer-learning environment in which participants develop better judgement, strengthen their confidence and learn from the experience of others.
Who benefits from Pod Coaching?Pod Coaching works particularly well for:
- Emerging leaders moving into broader management responsibilities.
- High-potential employees participating in a leadership-development program.
- Managers facing similar organisational or people-management challenges.
- Cross-functional groups that need to strengthen collaboration.
- Professionals navigating a transition, promotion or increase in scope.
- Small organisations that want practical leadership development without commissioning a large-scale programme.
How group coaching works
A group-coaching engagement begins with a short conversation to understand the business context, the participants and the outcomes you want to achieve.
I will then recommend the most appropriate format: an intact Team Coaching intervention, a Pod Coaching series, or a tailored leadership-development program combining coaching and facilitation.
Sessions may be delivered face-to-face, online or in a blended format. The design depends on the size of the group, the complexity of the issues and whether the priority is team performance, leadership development or peer learning.
